Privacy Policy

Effective 4 October 2026

This policy covers the TipHarbor app for iPhone and iPad and the website tipharbor.app. The short version: the app keeps your tip records on your device and we never receive them. The website uses analytics so we can see how it's used, which you can switch off.

In one minute

  • No account, no ads and no tracking in the app.
  • Your shifts, tips and notes are stored on your device. If you turn on iCloud sync, they're stored in your own private iCloud, which we can't read.
  • We don't sell your information or share it for advertising.
  • We only see what you choose to send us, like a support email.

1. Who we are

TipHarbor is made and published by Janardan Ayachi, an individual developer based in Kutch, Gujarat, India ("we", "us"). For the purposes of data protection law, Janardan Ayachi is the controller (data fiduciary) of the limited personal information described here.

Email: support@tipharbor.app

2. The TipHarbor app

The app does not collect personal information for us. Its App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected". In detail:

Your records

Jobs, shifts, tips, tip-outs, hours, notes, goals and receipt attachments are stored only on your device. We have no servers that receive them. You control them: you can edit, export, back up and delete them inside the app.

iCloud sync (optional, Pro)

If you turn on iCloud sync, your records are stored in your private iCloud database, provided by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Only your devices signed in to your Apple Account can read them. We cannot access them. Sync is off until you turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time.

Purchases

Pro is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles payment. We never receive your name, card or billing details. The app only learns from Apple whether Pro is active on your Apple Account.

Face ID, Touch ID and passcode

If you turn on the app lock, iOS checks your face, fingerprint or passcode. The app only receives a yes or no. Biometric data never leaves Apple's secure hardware and never reaches the app or us.

Reminders, widgets and the Lock Screen

Reminders are scheduled on your device. Widgets and the Lock Screen shift timer read from the same on-device records. You can hide dollar amounts on the Lock Screen in Settings.

Crash reports

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings (Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share crash reports and basic usage statistics with us. Apple does not link them to your identity. We use them only to find and fix bugs. You can turn this off in the same place.

3. This website

tipharbor.app has no accounts, forms or payments. When you visit it:

Your choices on this website

  • In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland we ask first. Cookies for behaviour analytics are only set if you say yes. If you say no, it runs without cookies and without connecting your visits.
  • Anywhere, you can change your choice with , also linked at the bottom of every page.
  • If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we treat it as "no" to behaviour analytics cookies.
  • We tell our analytics provider not to use your data for advertising.
  • Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage, not in a cookie. Clearing your browser data resets it.

4. When you contact us

If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. The app's Help screen fills in your app version, iOS version, device model and whether Pro is active, to help us fix problems. It never includes your shifts or amounts. You can delete any of it before you send. We use this only to reply to you and to improve the app.

Basis: to respond to your request (contract or steps you asked us to take) and our legitimate interest in supporting the app.

5. Who receives information

We don't sell personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We use a small number of service providers, who process information only to provide their service to us:

  • a website hosting provider;
  • website analytics providers;
  • an email provider, for support messages;
  • Apple, for the App Store, purchases, iCloud sync and crash reports, as described above.

We may disclose information if the law requires it, for example in response to a valid legal order.

6. International transfers

We are based in India and our service providers operate in several countries, including the United States. Where information about people in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland is transferred, our providers rely on recognised safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. You can ask us for more information about these safeguards.

7. How long we keep it

  • App records: we never hold them. They stay on your device (and your iCloud, if you sync) until you delete them.
  • Support emails: until your request is resolved, then no longer than 24 months, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
  • Website analytics: kept by the providers for a limited period under their retention settings, generally no more than 13 months.
  • Hosting logs: kept briefly for operating and securing the site.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • know what personal information we hold about you and get a copy;
  • correct it;
  • delete it;
  • restrict or object to how we use it, including for analytics;
  • receive it in a portable format;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what happened before;
  • nominate someone to act for you, where your law allows it;
  • not be treated differently for using these rights;
  • complain to your data protection authority (in India, the Data Protection Board of India; in the EU or UK, your local supervisory authority).

To use any of these rights, email support@tipharbor.app. We reply within 30 days, or tell you if we need more time where the law allows it. We may ask for information to confirm the request is yours.

Deleting your app data

Because we never receive your records, you delete them yourself: delete the app from your device. If you used iCloud sync, also delete TipHarbor's data from iCloud: open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage (or Storage), then TipHarbor.

California

In the past 12 months we have not sold or shared personal information as those words are defined in the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we don't use or disclose sensitive personal information. The categories we may handle are identifiers (an email address or IP address), internet activity on this website and the contents of messages you send us, for the purposes described above.

9. Children

TipHarbor is made for people who earn tips at work, so it isn't designed for children. The app itself collects no personal information from anyone. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the older age set by law where they live (up to 16 in some EU countries), through this website or by email. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email support@tipharbor.app and we'll delete it.

10. Security

The app stores records in iOS's protected app storage, and you can lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode. The website is served only over HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so keep your device locked and make backups.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date above. If a change is significant, we'll also note it on this website or in the app before it takes effect.

12. Contact and grievances

For any privacy question, request or complaint, contact our grievance officer:
