The quickest way is from the app: tap the ? at the top of Today, or open Settings, then Help & feedback. It fills in your app and iOS version, which helps us fix things faster. It never includes your shifts or amounts.
We read every message and reply as soon as we can.
Getting the app
TipHarbor is for iPhone and iPad with iOS 17 or later. It's free to download from the App Store, with an optional Pro upgrade. If it isn't live in the App Store yet, it will be very soon; check back here.
Logging shifts
How do I log a shift?
On Today, pick the job, enter cash tips, card tips, any tip-out and your hours, then tap Save shift. The line under the fields shows what you'll keep before you save. For a shift you're still working, switch to Clock in and start the timer instead.
I worked past midnight. Which day does it go on?
The day you started. Late shifts are counted toward the night they began, and you can change the shift date on Today or when editing the shift later.
Can I log two shifts in one day, or two jobs?
Yes. Log as many shifts a day as you work. Free includes two active jobs; Pro removes the limit. Today's total adds up every job.
Where do tip pool, sales and service charges go?
Tap More details on the logging form. Sales are optional, but they let saved tip-out rules work out a percentage of sales for you.
How do saved tip-out rules work? (Pro)
Add a rule to a job, such as 3% of sales to the bar or a fixed $20 to the bussers. When you log a shift, tap the rule and it fills in the tip-out and who received it.
I saved a shift with a typo.
Tap Undo on the Saved message to put everything back in the form, or open the shift in History and edit it there.
The shift timer and Lock Screen
The timer isn't on my Lock Screen.
Check that Live Activities are allowed for TipHarbor in the Settings app, under TipHarbor, and that "Show while clocked in" is on in TipHarbor's Settings. The Lock Screen card appears after you start a shift.
Can I hide my tips on the Lock Screen?
Yes. In TipHarbor's Settings, turn on Hide dollar amounts. The timer still shows; your money doesn't.
How do I add a widget?
In TipHarbor, open Settings, then Widgets, for step-by-step instructions for the Home Screen and Lock Screen. Widgets are part of Pro.
Your data
Where are my tips stored?
On your iPhone or iPad. We never receive them. With iCloud sync (Pro) turned on, they're also stored in your own private iCloud.
How do I move to a new phone?
Either turn on iCloud sync (Pro) on both devices, or make a backup in Settings, then Backup & restore, save it to Files or iCloud Drive, and restore it on the new phone. Your iPhone's own iCloud backup also includes TipHarbor.
Can I bring my history from another app?
Yes. Export a CSV from your old app or spreadsheet, then in TipHarbor open Settings, then Import & export. It matches the columns, shows a preview and flags duplicates. You can undo the whole import afterwards.
How do I export my records?
Settings, then Import & export. CSV works with Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. JSON keeps everything structured. Both are free.
How do I delete all my data?
Delete the app from your device. If you used iCloud sync, also open the Settings app, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Storage, then TipHarbor, and delete its data. We hold no copy.
What currency does it use?
Amounts are recorded in US dollars for now.
Pro, billing and refunds
What does Pro include?
Unlimited jobs, iCloud sync, saved tip-out rules, shift templates, comparisons of days, jobs and shifts, matching paychecks to shifts, PDF reports, a year-end PDF, receipt photos, widgets and six extra themes. See pricing.
I bought Pro but it isn't showing.
Open Settings in TipHarbor and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.
How do I cancel my subscription?
In the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then TipHarbor. Or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions. Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
How do I get a refund?
The App Store handles payments, so refunds go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
I bought lifetime. Will I still be charged for my subscription?
Yes, unless you cancel it. Buying lifetime doesn't cancel an existing subscription automatically. Cancel it in your Apple Account settings.
What if Pro ends?
Nothing is deleted. Your shifts stay readable and editable, and you can keep logging under up to two jobs for free.
Taxes
Does TipHarbor do my taxes?
No. It keeps your records and gives you a year-end summary split into cash, card, tip pool and tip-outs, which you can hand to a tax preparer. It isn't tax advice. Our guide on keeping track of tips for taxes links to the IRS's own pages.
